Tumour

A tumor is a growth of tissue forming an abnormal mass. Tumors generally provide no useful function and grow at the expense of healthy tissues. Tumors can be cancerous (malignant) or noncancerous (benign).
Cause-
In general, tumors appear to be caused by abnormal regulation of cell division. Typically, the division of cells in the body is strictly controlled — new cells are created to replace older ones or to perform new functions. Cells that are damaged or no longer needed die to make room for healthy replacements. If the balance of cell division and death is disturbed, a tumor may form.
Problems with the body's immune system can lead to tumors. Tobacco causes more deaths from cancer than any other environmental substance. Other causes include:
Benzene and other chemicals and toxins
Drinking excess alcohol
Excessive sunlight exposure
Genetic problems
Inactivity (sedentary lifestyle)
Obesity
Radiation
Certain viruses are also responsible for the development of it.
Some tumors are more common in one sex than the other, some are more common among children or the elderly, and some vary with diet, environment, and genetic risk factors.
Symptoms-
It depends upon the location and type of tumor.
For example-
Tumor of colon- Diarrhoea, blood loss in stools, anaemia, weight loss, loss of appetite etc.
Tumor of lung- cough, spitting of blood in sputum, shortness of breath etc.
Some tumors produce no symptoms, but symptoms that may occur with tumors include:
Chills
Fatigue
Fever
Loss of appetite
Malaise
Night sweats
Weight loss
Diagnosis-
Investigations are depends on the location of tumor.
Biopsy- to determine the type of tumor whether malignant or benign in nature.
CT-scan, MRI
Positron emission tomography (PET) scans have been used to find certain tumor types.
Tumor markers test

Treatment-
Treatment is also specific to the location and type of the tumor. Benign tumors can sometimes simply be ignored, or they may be reduced in size (debulked) or removed entirely via surgery. For cancerous tumors, options include chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.

Role of homoeopathy-
Homeopathy is recognized as the safest, quick responsive and less expensive form of treatment against all ailments and it is used by millions of people worldwide.
The medicines which are used are thoroughly studied and prepared.
Homoeopathic medicines will help in treating the cases of tumor. There are several medicines are available in homoeopathic materia medica for the treatment of tumor.

Prognosis-
The outlook varies widely among different types of tumors. If the tumor is benign, the outlook is generally very good. However, there are some instances where a benign tumor can cause significant problems, for instance, in the brain.
If the tumor is malignant, the outcome depends on the stage of the tumor at diagnosis. Some cancers can be cured. Some that are not curable can still be treated and patients can live for many years with the cancer. Still other tumors are quickly life-threatening.
